2019 MASSACHUSETTS ADULT 90% HANDICAP STATE TOURNAMENT
Rules and Entrance Requirements

PARTICIPATION
1. All participants in the 2019 Massachusetts Adult 90% Handicap State Tournament must be at least 17 years of age ,and must be a current league bowler at a Massachusetts Bowling Association (MBA) member establishment. See page 4 for complete list of member centers. Definition of a League Bowler – A team member, not a substitute. (Substitute bowler averages Do Not Count.)
2. Youth bowlers who enter any portion of this tournament may not participate in the 2019 State Candlepin Youth Championships.
AVERAGE VERIFICATION AND IDENTIFICATION CARDS
1. All handicap bowlers entering any adult event must file by mail for an average card with MBA, PO BOX 8068, LYNN, MA 01904. FILE EARLY.
  No cards will be issued in person at the MBA office.
2. A $10.00 fee must accompany the average verification request card and all required information must be completed. Use ink. Altered, changed or initialed averages will be rejected. Once your info is complete, get appropriate signatures. Make checks payable to MBA Tournament.
3. Upon receipt of a completed average verification request card, bowler will then be issued an official MBA average card, valid from February 15, 2019 to February 14, 2020 and a coupon good for 5 Free Strings of Open Play Bowling valid to December 31, 2019. Both cards will be honored at any MBA. Bowlers are required to present their identification cards for every event. No card on file - No entry. Photo ID may be required at finals.
4. All entrants must have verified MBA LEAGUE averages (at least 40 strings) in an MBA establishment. TRUE Average from 2,3,4,5 or 6 person teams shall be used in determining the highest average. If during the season, you have bowled with temporary injuries or physical circumstances that decrease your average, it will be reviewed by the Tournament Directors and subject to adjustment. If you are deliberately throwing away pins, your average cannot be considered a TRUE AVERAGE and will be subject to disqualification by the Tournament Directors.
5. PRO League bowlers may participate provided they have a verified MBA LEAGUE average as described above. PRO League bowlers use the highest of either their Pro League average or MBA league average. Averages must have a 40-string minimum.
6. Late league starters must have a minimum of 40 strings recorded as of date of filing for verification card.
7. Eliminate all fractions when submitting average. Declared average is individual bowler’s sole responsibility.
8. ONLYOfficialMBAVerificationCardswillbeacceptedasproofofaverage.
9. Average may not be changed after an individual has started any event, except to increase it.
10. Misrepresentation of any kind will result in disqualification of entire entry and forfeiture of all prize monies. Bowlers submitting falsified information
  will be banned from participating in any MBA sponsored Tournament for five (5) years.
ENTRIES – no entry deadline. See rule 3e.
1. A bowler may only enter each event one time.
2. ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED OR CONSIDERED OFFICIALLY ENTERED WITHOUT THE ENTRY FEE.

3. 1) MAIL ALL ENTRIES TO: Woburn Bowladrome, 32 Montvale Ave, Woburn, MA 01801
4. Proof of entry is the responsibility of the bowler
5. You may enter at any time. However, if you enter on the day of the event, your entry will be handled on a space available first come first served
  basis only. No entry will be allowed after the shift has begun. No shifts will be added after the last posted shift.
6. Use a separate entry blank for each event. In order to assure preferred time and date, send entries EARLY. Be sure to list a SECOND CHOICE.
  If no second choice is listed, or the second choice is full, the committee reserves the right to assign a date and time.
EVENTS: Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Mixed T eams and T eams
1. For average requirements for the tournament and further explanation see rules 5e and 8.
2. In Doubles and Team Events ,any bowler may enter regardless of average as long as the doubles and/or team combined average does not exceed the 2019 MBA Adult Handicap State Tournament requirements for that particular event.
ALL EVENTS – Classes A & B –Winners are top ladies’ & men’s bowler with combined highest 13-string total in each class
1. Individual bowler must enter Singles ,a Doubles Event and a Team Event. The combined 13-string total plus personal handicap for each game is your “All Events” total. You may enter all 5 events and take your best Doubles and Team scores.
2. All Events must be entered before bowler’s first ball is rolled in any event. Entrants must check All Events board in order to verify entry.
3. A separate entry blank must be filed ($10.00 fee required). Mail to Woburn Bowladrome, 32 Montvale Ave, Woburn, MA 01801
4. MBA will add up to $250 (based on participation) to the All Events prize pool for each category, Ladies & Men, Class A & B
5. Class A – Men=103 and above, Class A Ladies=90 and above. Class B Men=102 and below, Class B Ladies=89 and below
SUBSTITUTIONS
1. Substitution may be made in any event except singles.
2. Substitutes are subject to Average Verification rules.(See rule #2)
3. Replacement bowler(s) may not have participated in that event.
4. Host center should be notified at least two hours prior to the event.
GENERAL RULES
1. In case of default for any reason, entry fee will not be refunded.
2. Incomplete game(s)–score stands at time of default.
3. 1 in 4 win cash prizes. (1 in 4, 2 in 8, 3 in 12 etc.) In case of ties, cash prizes will be divided equally. Next position(s) move down.
4. All notices and prize money will be forwarded to the first person listed with a legible mailing address on entry blank. Distribution is their sole
  responsibility. Non-distribution of prize funds will result in suspension from further MBA Tournaments.
5. Director reserves the right to add or delete from the schedule to accommodate entries.
6. ICBA official rules will govern all decisions. All decisions of the Tournament Committee shall be final.
7. Returned check bank charge of $20.00applies.
8. Smoking, including electronic or smokeless cigarettes is not allowed
9. Appropriate dress required at all events
HANDICAP BASE & AVERAGE LIMITS:
a. There is an average limit for each event except Singles. Handicaps are based on the average limit for each event as follows:

Men’s Teams 650 - Mixed Teams 500 - Ladies’ Doubles 240 - Men’s Singles & All Events 130 - Ladies’ Teams 575 -
Men’s Doubles 260 - Mixed Doubles 250 - Ladies’ Singles & All Events 120
